The funding, generously provided by Enterprise Mobility in partnership with Easibathe, will support the ‘Time for Thomas Wet Room and Bedroom’ fundraising campaign.
This grant will contribute towards the essential adaptations needed to create a safer and more accessible home for Thomas, providing an environment that better supports his independence, comfort and future needs.
After hearing Thomas’ story and learning more about the challenges faced by him and his family, we wanted to find a meaningful way to support their fundraising campaign.
Through our relationship with Enterprise Mobility, Easibathe had the opportunity to submit an application to its charitable grant programme. As the programme is only available through eligible businesses, our team prepared and submitted an application explaining Thomas’ circumstances, the importance of the proposed adaptations and the difference the funding could make to his family.
We were thrilled to learn that our application had been successful and that Enterprise Mobility had awarded £2,500 to Sullivan’s Heroes in support of the Time for Thomas campaign.
We are incredibly grateful to Enterprise Mobility for providing the funding and proud that Easibathe was able to play an important role in helping to secure this valuable contribution.
Thomas was diagnosed at just four years old with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a progressive muscle-wasting condition for which there is currently no cure. The condition causes muscles throughout the body to gradually weaken, affecting mobility, independence and everyday activities.
Now aged 15, Thomas enjoys many of the same hobbies as other teenagers, including gaming, football and building LEGO sets. However, as his condition progresses, everyday tasks are becoming increasingly challenging, and his family home needs to adapt alongside his changing requirements.
The fundraising campaign aims to reconfigure the family home, including the creation of a new bedroom and wet room for Thomas, alongside accessible living space designed around his needs.
These essential adaptations will provide Thomas with greater comfort, privacy and independence, while ensuring his home can continue to support him and his family in the future.
